Boston Calling 2018 has experienced a bit of a lineup shuffle over the past few weeks (Bryson Tiller out, DJ Mike D in; Stormzy out, Cousin Stizz in), but thankfully, Maggie Rogers’ slot Friday (May 25) at 5:55 p.m. on the Red Stage has been locked in. And we’re super grateful this morning, as her soulful new single “Fallingwater” soundtracks this hazy May day in New England.
In a message posted to Twitter, Rogers says “Fallingwater” is “about these past two years, this giant transition [and] ride that I’ve been on. It’s a song that celebrates rapid change and how simultaneously scary and electric it can feel. It’s about giving everything and not knowing if it’s enough. It’s about the power of vulnerability — a cry for help and a battle cry at the same time.” Read her message in full below.
“Fallingwater” was co-produced by Rostam Batmanglij, known for his work in Vampire Weekend, and can be heard via Spotify below. After appearing at Boston Calling, Rogers heads to Red Rocks in Colorado to play with HAIM and makes an appearance at Governors Ball in NYC on June 1.
