Liam Gallagher owes us one, and he’s about to pay it back.
The Oasis frontman bailed on Boston last November, canceling his scheduled gig at The House of Blues after finding himself “full of a cold.” There ended up being no proper make-up date for that one, but Gallagher returns to town later this month for a show at The Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on May 14, and he’s bringing along old friend Richard Ashcroft, The Verve frontman who released one of the low-key finest records of 2016 in These People.
Last year, Gallagher debuted his own solo album, As You Were, and as he sets foot back in the States, wants to remind us just how good it was by releasing a video for its latest single, “Paper Crown.” Though it lacks the Britpop punch of prior singles “Wall Of Glass” and “Greedy Soul,” this latest track has a nice Beatles-meets-Bowie ballad thing going on, and should be a crowd pleaser.
Oddly, Gallagher doesn’t appear at all in the video, which stars British actress Sienna Guillory playing several different characters over the course of an evening in some seedy lounge.
Watch it below, and head’s up — if this upcoming Gallagher & Ashcroft gig is how you want to spend a Monday night, Live Nation is now selling a batch of $20 “all in” tickets to the show. That price includes fees and charges and all the other stuff.
Biblical, yeah.
