On BAUM’s new track “Hot Water,” she tells not one, but two lies. First of all, her “I’ve never done much at all” statement falls flat, especially following a successful SXSW run last month and her subsequent spotlight amongst other LGBTQ+ artists in Billboard. Secondly, BAUM isn’t “in” hot water — she is the hot water.
The L.A.-based dark pop singer released her EP Ungodly in March, but as we sit here today, there’s some bad news — BAUM was supposed to storm The Middle East Upstairs tonight (April 27) with Dagny, but a “whopping case of #tonsillitis” has pulled her from the bill.
not playing Boston tmrw due to a whopping case of #tonsillitis. I’m sorry u guys. I wanted to play it so badly and I’ll be back soon ????

While we await any sort of make-up date — maybe a headlining show is in short order, given the response to Ungodly over the past few weeks — we’ll just keep the EP on constant repeat. Our tip: Keep you ears peeled for the the shameless feminine authority of “This Body” and the R&B slink of “Dream Girl.”
