Studio 52 Spotlight: KIND
What Studio 52 Says: After taking a short break from the stage, one of Boston’s premier supergroups is back at it. With members of Elder, Black Pyramid, Rozamov and Roadsaw, KIND came together to consolidate all the distinct markings of their other groups to create an additional mammoth entity. Elaborating upon the classic stoner rock sound, KIND add a psychedelic element that bumps throughout their 2015 album Rocket Science. With track titles such as “Rabbit Astronaut” and “Pastrami Blaster,” KIND’s rhythm section sets the groove for the biting guitar work woven around vocalist’s Craig Riggs’ precise melodies. The verses lay a foundation of the indelible riffs you come to expect from the classic rock mythos followed by occasional and impeccable jam sessions that complete the integrity of the track. KIND remain one of the tightest rock groups in Boston, and you’ll get the chance to see why this weekend before they hop over the Atlantic to play Desertfest in London in May. Check out KIND at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston this Sunday night (April 15) with Pillars and Set Fire. — Andrew Maroney, Studio 52
