Editor's Note: There are few things as exhilarating as a Sunday night in the middle of a three-day holiday weekend. The trouble, oftentimes, is finding suitable plans to match the type of excitement that comes with such an extended bout of revelry. Last night at Boston's House of Blues, X Ambassadors and Now, Now affirmed the decision-making of those who trekked to Lansdowne Street with a colorful performance fit for a Friday or Saturday night. It was the latest stop on the Joyful Tour, named for X Ambassadors' upcoming album and recent single, and it found the New York band continually redefining our first impressions from when we first heard "Renegades" in 2015; in the years since, Sam Harris and crew have shaped their sound into one that draws heavily from soul, R&B, and classics, making them one of the more eclectic groups to emerge from this latest crop of indie and alt-rock acts. Now, Now fits the descriptor of eclecticism as well, as the Minnesota-born duo pulls from alt-pop and indie to push their own sound of rock and roll modernism. Emily Gardner was at the HOB last night to capture photo visuals of both animated performances, and you can scan through her full gallery below.
