James Bay’s new music video for ‘Wild Love’ features a familiar face: Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things.
Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler in the hit Netflix series, here acts as Bay’s love interest as the pair navigate some sort of dance party, eventually finding each other through the crowd and coming face-to-face. It’s certainly no “prom scene” from the end of Stranger Things 2, so that’s a relief.
“It was such a pleasure to work with Natalia on the ‘Wild Love’ set,” Bay says, via Radio X. “She’s a lovely person, a huge talent and it was great hanging with her while making this video. I’m also a massive Stranger Things fan so tried everything in my power not to fan boy too hard.”
The chilled-out pop ballad is the first single off Bay’s upcoming sophomore album, the follow to to 2015’s Chaos and the Calm LP. Bay says the track “is about the experience of falling for someone… Something you can feel immediately when you meet them for the first time, or which rekindles throughout a relationship. It’s also about yearning for someone — whether that’s the person you can’t keep your eyes off across the room, or in my experience, the person you don’t stop thinking about wherever you are in the world.”
Go ask Jonathan Byers about all that.
James Bay plays Royale in Boston on April 5.
