RIP: The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan has died at the age of 46

Sad news to pass along, as Irish news agencies are reporting that Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan has died. She was 46.

According to RTE, O'Riordan was in London for a short recording session. Police were called to a Park Lane hotel in Westminster around 9 a.m. local time this morning, where O'Riordan was pronounced dead at the scene. O'Riordan's publicist announced the shocking news Monday (January 15), which was confirmed by the BBC. The statement from the publicist adds that "family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

No cause of death has been made public as of press time. In recent years, O'Riordan had been performing in a band called D.A.R.K. with Andy Rourke, former bassist of The Smiths. Last April, The Cranberries released a greatest hits compilation titled Something Else.

O'Riordan last tweeted on January 3. More to come.
