Studio 52 Spotlight: Wolfsmyth
What Studio 52 Says: Studio 52’s own Wolfsmyth is a classic metal/hard rock powerhouse and have been bestowing ferocious epicness upon the Boston music scene since 2013. Riffs that put a disgusted look on your face for the best reason possible are somewhat of a calling card, lacquered up with screeching lead guitar lines and soaring vocal melodies; the urge to do donuts on your old high school football field with your dad’s t-bird is real. These guys sound like a Led Zeppelin/Motörhead hybrid with a dash of power metal, and their sense of humor is just an added bonus. Wolfsmyth’s grade-A bio states that they sound like “if Patrick Swayze had a dinner party and the only guest was Burt Reynolds, the only dish served was motor oil in a bread bowl, and dessert was a kiss on the lips.” With only a handful of singles released prior to today, they’ve had fans salivating over the thought of a Wolfsmyth album for five years, and today we finally got it. The self-titled debut full length is packed with bangers old and new, and was mixed and mastered by none other than Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East Mastering. To celebrate the long-awaited release, they’ll be kicking off a weekend run of shows at The Middle East Upstairs tonight (Friday January 12), supported by Chuggernaut and Oh My The Moon, before hitting New London, Connecticut, on Saturday (January 13) and UnchARTed in Lowell on Sunday (January 14). This is the weekend to feel young and alive all over again. — Trevor McSweeney, Studio 52
