Want to feel old? Passion Pit’s debut EP Chunk of Change turns 10 next year.
Though the official anniversary of the breakout record’s release doesn’t arrive until September, Michael Angelakos is getting us in the mood by firing up his electro-pop machine for an 18-date winter tour that plays Boston’s House of Blues on January 12. Here’s word from the group, via Facebook:
“Passion Pit (Michael Angelakos, with live band Chris Hartz, Aaron Harrison Forb, and Giuliano Pizzulo) will be going back on the road this winter in support of ‘Tremendous Sea of Love’, the tenth anniversary of ‘Chunk of Change’ EP, and the efforts of the The Wishart Group. Presale begins [Wednesday] at 10 with the code ‘seaoflove’ and all remaining tickets will go on sale this Friday. VIP tickets will also be available beginning tomorrow and a portion from all of those sales will be donated to charities promoting mental health services.”
That Wishart Group mentioned is the company Angelakos formed earlier this year, designed to “support musicians and provide them with legal, educational and healthcare services.” Angelakos has been open in recent years about his struggles with bipolar disorder, and has been outspoken in his efforts to combat the stigmas surrounding mental health issues.
