Everyone here at Vanyaland is still shaken and saddened by the sudden loss of beloved music photographer Eddy Leiva, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 35.
As a YouCaring fundraiser has been set up by Leiva’s family back in Peru to help offset the costs of reuniting him with his family, friends of his here in Boston are invited to two upcoming events this week in order to pay proper respects.
The first is his public wake, held on Tuesday (November 28) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mann-Rodgers Funeral Home in Jamaica Plain.
Then on Saturday (December 2), we will be gathering at Brighton Music Hall in Allston from noon to 3 p.m. for a celebration of his life and photography, showcasing his incredible work of documenting live music around Boston while we listen to his favorite bands over the P.A.
The event is free and open to the public, and all are welcome to drop by a raise a glass to our friend and colleague. We’ll have a few printed pieces of Leiva’s photography on display; stay tuned for details on how to acquire one by donating to the YouCaring link above.
