What Studio 52 Says: Boston based hip-hop crew STL GLD consist of emcee Moe Pope and producer The Arcitype, and together they have cultivated a sound that blends old school hip-hop flow, modern beats with old school roots, and gritty real life topics. Rapping about everything from fatherhood and relationships to drugs and overdoses while collaborating with a number of artists — some well outside of their genre — listeners are always kept guessing as to what’s coming next. These guys have been a pivotal piece of the Boston hip-hop scene since the early 2000s, predating the creation of STL GLD. Both Pope and Arcitype are Boston Music Award-winning acts on their own, STL GLD itself has been nominated for “Best Hip Hop Act” for the past two years, and they’ll be performing at the 2017 BMAs at The House of Blues on December 7. But hey, why wait a month for one of Boston’s best hip-hop acts?
