So look we’ve probably been over this before but 10 years ago (10 years!!) Yelle released “A Cause Des Garcons” and we still just aren’t over it. Song slays, and each morning we wake up wishing we could be transported back to those pre-EDM days when electro was fresh and dance parties were actually fun. We all lived on blogs by day and weird sushi-venues-turned-nightclubs at night and we were all much happier. Seriously ask your DJ friend, those days ruled.
Anyway Yelle is back with a new house-inspired French-pop jam called “Romeo” and it takes us back to that time, and while it doesn’t have the 3 a.m. bloghouse punch of “A Cause Des Garcons,” it still coasts along at a neon photographer’s pace. It’s also a nice jolt to get us amped for Julie Budet and Jean-François Perrier’s upcoming Yelle Club Party Tour, which should make it safe (and fun) to once again hit the dance floor.
Yelle’s 24-date North American tour kicks off next week in Philly and wraps November 11 in Austin, and a few parties into things swings by a sold-out Great Scott in Allston on October 5.
