You may remember a few weeks back when Warner Brothers dropped the Jared Leto-starring 2036: Nexus Dawn, a short prequel film to Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, and you might have liked it or been horrified by it, depending on your tolerance for the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman and Oscar-winner (what the fuck). Today, the iTunes Trailers Twitter page dropped the second one of these short films, 2048: Nowhere to Run, directed by Sir Ridley’s son, Luke Scott, on their feed, and it’s significantly more palatable.
Why, you might ask? Because Dave Bautista’s in it, that’s why.

It’s always nice to see Bautista and his particular talents on screen, as he’s slowly become the kind of action star whose neck-snapping and ass-kicking antics have taken the backseat to his fantastic acting chops. This short’s not a bad introduction to his character, even if it’s a little vague, and given the fact that Scott, who can’t direct his way out of a paper bag, was in charge of it.
We’re excited to see more of Sapper and his Graham Greene-loving ways when Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters everywhere on October 6.
