The first sign of the forthcoming holiday season is upon us, and we’re not talking about overzealous display racks at CVS and Walgreens. Nope, we’re talking about Boston’s true holiday tradition, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones’ annual Hometown Throwdown.
And much like the band’s 1997 album Let’s Face It, this year’s Throwdown — going down December 28, 29, and 30 at the House of Blues — turns the magical age of 20.
“It’s that time of year again!” the band writes on Facebook. “This year believe it or not it is ThrowDown number 20 — where did the time go? The end of 2017 also wraps up a year that The Mighty Mighty Ones spent honoring, celebrating, and observing the 20th anniversary of their album Let’s Face It so expect more of that along with a lot of other big surprises. Merry 20 everyone!”
Of course, now we all sit around and wait for news of this year’s theme and crop of openers, two reveals that are big events in their own right. In the meantime, tickets go on sale this Friday (September 15) at 10 a.m. Boston time; score them here: December 28 / December 29 / December 30.
If you can’t wait until December to party with the Bosstones, catch them next month at Sam Adams’ Octoberfest in the Seaport…
