Paramount Pictures dropped a trailer this morning for the summer’s most exciting Stephen King adaptation (sorry, Dark Tower, but you were doomed from the start), Andrés Muschietti’s take on It, and it’s seriously fucking scary. Like don’t-watch-this-with-headphones-on scary. We know we’re writing a post about this, but we’re here to tell you not to watch it. Not because it’s bad, but because boy, it’ll mess you up. So don’t watch it. Unless you’re not a chicken like us. You aren’t a chicken, right? You’re super brave?
Well, prove it:
Oh boy, do we hate clowns! They’re just awful, guys.
And sure, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty good movie on top of everything and Pennywise looks alright (we miss you Tim Curry) but we’re shivering over here. Oh, also! Book of Henry alum (and titular Henry!) Jaeden Lieberher is in this film, so we can all celebrate him getting better work and moving on from that disaster. You keep on truckin’, lil’ Lieberher. There’s even better work for you out on the horizon.
Here’s a synopsis (though if you’ve been alive long enough to be a member of our readership, you probably don’t need one):
“When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.”
Yikes. It arrives in theaters on September 8.
