The view from the Boston Calling Ferris wheel is as dope as we anticipated

There are few rules at music festivals, but here's one: When the universe presents you with the opportunity to ride a ferris wheel under the guise of journalism, you say yes.

Sure, the one plunked down in the middle of Boston Calling this weekend results in a stream of constant “What is this, Coachella?” commentary if you hang out at its base for more than a minute. And yeah, it’s completely inescapable on Instagram right now. But also, Ferris wheels don’t come along often enough in adult life. So go ahead, snark away, but you have to admit that deep down, your inner kid is itching to go on the thing.

Everyone here at Boston Calling is at least thinking about it.

Jeff and Sasha Mayo, two of this weekend’s attendees, went for a ride Saturday afternoon. The couple drove down from Maine to celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary, and in doing so, are embracing their own inner children while spending time away from their four-month-old daughter for the first time. Taking pity on a lone-wolf journalist/official Ferris wheel correspondent, the Mayos invited this writer along to join them on the ride, effectively transforming the ferris wheel into a ferris third wheel.

Anyway, the three of us can now confirm that the views from the top are just as rad as we’d been hoping. Here's a sample of the view from the highest point of Boston Calling:
