Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Boston Calling Music Festival returns this weekend (May 26, 27, 28), and there's a lot going on. The three-day music and arts festival boasts its most impressive performer lineup in its four-year history, with an expanded food and drink offering all stretched out over a new location at the Harvard Athletic Complex. After seven fests at City Hall plaza in downtown Boston, the party shifts to the open acreage of Lower Allston, upgrading its overall layout from a condensed six acres surrounded by buildings to about 17 acres along the Charles River. We've been covering the news of this expanded and enhanced Boston Calling since organizers held meetings with Allston officials last fall, so here's a quick recap and rundown of where we stand today at the Boston Calling gates set to swing open this afternoon. How do we get there?

In Boston, you usually don’t plan on going to Allston; you just usually end up there. For Boston Calling weekend, there will need to be some planning. Where City Hall was a central location easily accessible by public transportation and Government Center’s relative familiarity to festival-goers, the new spot brings some uncertainty — like where, exactly, is the closest MBTA station (spoiler: Harvard Square on the Red Line). To answer the questions about how to get to Boston Calling, organizers have unveiled a video detailing each way to get from within and outside the city directly to the Allston location. The tl;dw version: Don’t drive, grab an Uber, or take the T to Harvard Square and walk across the bridge.

Also, don’t drive. Read that previous sentence again.

A few weeks back, Boston Calling released an informational video, which you can watch below, to get all sorts of informed. It’s soundtracked by beats from John PhoneTrain, who has been known for creating tracks on his iPhone while riding on the Commuter Rail for his daily commute in and out of Boston.
