The most unexpected and fascinating names to appear on the new season of ‘Twin Peaks’

Yesterday, we brought you a list of musicians that we were excited to see on screen in the new season of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, which premieres on Showtime this Sunday (May 21) at 9 p.m..

We thought it only fitting to return back to the same 217-person cast list that we pulled that list from, and find the most unexpected and fascinating names on that list from all other walks of life -- actors, athletes, stuntmen -- and use that as a way to preview how different and unexpected this new season might be.

Unexpected, yes -- just like David Lynch doing the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Matthew Lillard

Time has been both a loving wife and a cruel mistress to Lillard, who was, for a brief period, the personification of a certain kind of dude from the ’90s. Sure, he’s been straight cashing checks after permanently taking over as the voice of Shaggy in all sorts of Scooby Doo media after Casey Kasem retired from the roll, but he’s never really been able to top the highs of his career as a live-action actor. Sure, you may know and love him from your mall goth period when you really liked SLC Punk, but did you know he’s also been on Halt and Catch Fire, the best show you’re not watching? Anyways, we digress. This clip from Scream might represent the height of his ’90s talents, as he successfully captured what it was like to be a super annoying dork in that era (jk), along with Jamie Kennedy.
