Freshly Squeezed: The music-minded cast of ‘Twin Peaks’ to amplify the show’s return

Right around this time last year, the cast list for the new season of Twin Peaks dropped, and there were a shitload of surprising names on it, like Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, and Tim Roth. Plenty more will be making an appearance on the show, but what truly surprised us were the number of musicians on the cast list, and how odd and eclectic they were.

With Twin Peaks back in our lives this weekend, premiering Sunday (May 21) at 9 p.m. eastern on Showtime, we took a glimpse at the some of the cast and some tracks that we think you might enjoy if you’re in the mood for some Lynchian goodness.

Pro-tip, though: You might not want to watch this on your phone, lest you piss David Lynch himself off.

Ruth Radelet

The Chromatics singer was a pretty surprising addition to the cast, considering that she really hasn’t done much in the way of acting in the past. Yet, she fits the mold of a Lynch chanteuse quite well — her beautiful and airy voice feels like a truly perfect fit. Here’s Symmetry’s version of the Chromatics song “The River,” retitled “Streets of Fire” for their Themes From An Imaginary Film *coughscrappedDrivesoundtrackcough* album.
