Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.
Now that Ripe have dutifully conquered their hometown, selling out the Paradise Rock Club a few months back, the Boston-born septet is taking their sound out on the funking road. This week the band announced a 24-date summer tour that kicks off Monday at Rochester’s Lilac Festival, stretches out in bursts through the summer, with gigs at Illinois’ Summer Camp and Harborfest in Norfolk, and wraps July 21 at Karoondinha Music & Arts Festival in Pennsylvania. Karoondinha is headlined by Chance The Rapper, Paramore, and John Legend, so hey, no big deal.
On the radar for New England, Ripe also play Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den (June 11), two nights at the Chicken Box on Nantucket (July 4 and 5), and Levitate Music And Arts Festival in Marshfield (July 9).
As we noted in a December profile, Ripe are eager to represent Boston well. And they’re truly reflective of the city, coming together here for college from various backgrounds to assemble one solid unit. “The short answer to the question of how we work together is with great difficulty and a lot of care,” frontman Robbie Wulfsohn told Vanyaland. “I mean, it is a seven person songwriting process and if you ask each member about it you’re going to get seven different answers. We all have our individual backgrounds, but our goal is to make music where [the listener] feels understood.”
