When Lana Del Rey unveiled recent single and instant 2017 Song of the Year contender “Love” back in February, it proved the singer was poised for a spectacular year ahead. Today, that promise begins to take on a larger shape as she detailed her new album Lust For Life with a theatrical trailer that finds Del Rey living squarely in the middle of Hollywood’s glitz and glamour.
The follow-up to 2015’s Honeymoon, Del Rey states this new LP, like the best film teases, is merely “coming soon.” And it can’t come soon enough.
“So, even though these times can feel a little bit crazy, they’re not so very different from what other generations have experienced at one time or another before,” Del Rey tells us with the cool, collected confidence of a matriarchal figure. “Amidst all the uncertainty, and as we transition out of one era into another one, there’s no place I’d rather be than smack-dab in the middle of ‘Holly-weird’ making this record for you. Because you, and the music, and this place, are my love, my life, my lust for life.
