Any self-respecting Bostonian knows that the real (and most vital) party in town this past weekend had nothing to do with the embarrassing amateur hour spectacle known as St. Patrick's Day, but rather the Boston Stands with the ACLU benefit show at the Paradise Rock Club.
Saturday's sold-out festivities, the second in the monthly Boston Stands series, was a banger of an indie rock lineup, offering performances by Nada Surf, Juliana Hatfield, Belly, The Gravel Pit, and Bill Janovitz. The night was emceed by Ken Reid, radio DJ Angie C intro'd a bunch of the bands, and it appears The Sheila Divine showed up as a surprise guest.
There was much rock going on, with a lot to process.
As we await the next Boston Stands party -- April 5 at ONCE Ballroom and featuring Lori McKenna, Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, Vance Gilbert, Stephen Kellogg, Jesse Dee, and Sarah Borges, among many others -- let's dive in to some fan-filmed video from Saturday at the 'Dise.
