Earlier this month, Speedy Ortiz stood in solidarity with Bandcamp by donating their share of proceeds from online sales to the American Civil Liberties Union. It was a good way to raise money for an excellent cause — and to fill any blanks in your Speedy Ortiz back-catalog. For those who happen to already own everything the Massachusetts guitar-rock band has ever released, today brings good news in the shape of a new Speedy Ortiz song, titled “In My Way,” released for the Our First 100 Days project.
Chronicling Trump’s first 100 days in office by releasing one song per day, Our First 100 Days was started with Secretly Group and 30 Songs, 30 Days, and “aims to raise funds and awareness for organizations supporting causes that are under threat by the proposed policies of a Trump administration.” According to notes on its Bandcamp page, the money raised by the campaign will “go directly to organizations working on the front lines of climate, women’s rights, immigration and fairness.”
For a minimum donation of $30, contributors will receive all 100 songs in the series, which has featured music by Angel Olsen, PWR BTTM, Meat Wave, Toro Y Moi, Surfer Blood, and Jason Molina.
Speedy Ortiz’ contribution is the 32nd song in the series; listen to it below.
