Kurt Cobain would have turned 50 years old today, and his daughter Frances Bean Cobain has commemorated the occasion with a heartfelt hand-written note posted to her Instagram. The cultural icon and Nirvana frontman was born on February 20, 1967.
“Today would have been your 50th birthday,” his daughter writes. “You are loved and you are missed. Thank you for giving me the gift of life. Forever your daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.”
The 24-year-old Los Angeles-based artist and model was still a baby when her father killed himself in a Seattle home in April 1994. Frances Bean Cobain was born less than two years earlier, on August 18, 1992.
