Boston, MA (February 7, 2017) – Live Nation New England and Pollstar are proud to announce Don Law, famed Boston concert promoter and current Live Nation New England president, received the Pollstar Honors/Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pollstar Live Conference in Los Angeles last Thursday. The award was presented to Law by William Morris Endeavor worldwide President Marc Geiger.
Video tributes were featured from music industry luminaries such as Bruce Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, CAA music division President Rob Light, former Who and Rolling Stones manager Peter Rudge, James Taylor, Robert Plant, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Adam Clayton and The Edge of U2, and Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band.
Within the industry, his name has been synonymous with concerts in New England for decades. In the early days of the concert business, Law operated the legendary Boston Tea Party club where he helped break bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Jethro Tull, the Allman Brothers, and numerous others, many of whom stayed loyal to Law when they returned to the area. Law was instrumental in the development of Great Woods/Xfinity Center, Harborlights/Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, the Paradise Rock Club, Brighton Music Hall, and the House of Blues Boston and manages the Orpheum Theater. The Paradise, one of the oldest rock clubs in the country, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Law and his partner David Mugar own and operate the Boston Opera House. Live Nation New England presents more than 1,000 shows per year, selling approximately 2 million tickets annually. Unlike his contemporary Bill Graham, Law has been known to keep a relatively low profile while becoming one of the most successful and savviest promoters in North America.
In addition to the owned and operated venues above, Live Nation is also active in presenting concerts in the following venues: TD Garden, Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, DCU Center, SNHU Arena, Dunkin Donuts Center, Agganis Arena, Tsongas Center, Boch Center Wang Theater, Boch Center Shubert Theater, Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, Maine State Pier, Cross Insurance Arena, Cross Insurance Center, Merrill Auditorium, Capitol Center For The Arts, Flynn Center for the Performing Arts.
The Pollstar Honors/Lifetime Achievement Award was presented last year to Monterey Peninsula Artists founders Dan Weiner and Fred Bohlander.
