Life moves pretty fast. One day you’re at your piano covering The Chainsmokers’ “Paris,” the next you’re out on tour with the EDM duo.
That’s the situation for Berklee College of Music student Tony Ann, who last week posted a clip of himself covering “Paris.” It caught the attention of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, who then on Monday (February 6) announced they were taking Ann, one-half of electro-pop duo The Swoons, out on tour with them.
The Chainsmokers write: “Yo how talented is this guy @tonyann_ What an amazing cover of Paris! We found Tony online from an older cover he did of our music! It was so good we decided to bring him on our #MDNOTour this spring! Just shows you never know what’s gonna happen! Make sure you check this out and get a ticket for our upcoming tour which is gonna be so incredible!”
There’s no word on how many dates Ann will be along for, or just how he’ll be utilized. Either way, this whole deal is pretty cool (even if maybe, just maybe, it’s not as innocent and spontaneous as it’s being presented). Hopefully Ann is with The Chainsmokers when they play TD Garden on June 2 and the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence on June 7.
“Extremely grateful for this opportunity and have always and will always appreciate all your love and support,” Ann writes. “Would really love to see you guys at one of the shows”.
Ann is from Toronto, so the May 30 gig at the Air Canada Centre should be quite a homecoming.
