Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based indie rock band OK Go are known for their intricate and incredibly calculated music videos, a practice the Smithsonian called revolutionary. But this week they’ve released maybe their simplest and most direct video yet, and it’s soundtracked by a cover of Morrissey’s 1992 single “Interesting Drug.”
The OK Go version of the song modifies the lyrics a bit to combat the presidency of Donald Trump (hello, Russia!), and the video is an all-out visual assault on the man who will be sworn in today as the 45th president of the United States of America.
“We recorded a cover of Morrissey’s ‘Interesting Drug’ — it seems like the right soundtrack for this moment,” the band writes. “No matter how anxious or angry you are, try to turn your passion into something good for the world. We’re in this together.”
OK Go also performed the song on The Late Late Show With James Corden, and you can watch that here.
We feel like Moz would approve of all this.
