Stateside fans of the xx are learning of their upcoming North American tour the old fashioned way — via the United States Post Office.
As Pitchfork reports, invites and tickets to the British trio’s shows in Portland (Maine), and Philadelphia have reached mailboxes of fans in those cities. “Alex got this in the mail with his vinyl for being one of the first people to order their new album and we are SHOOK,” tweets @im_not_amish.
As one reader points out via Twitter, that Maine date (May 28 at Thompson’s Point) also falls on Boston Calling weekend. So we can add the xx to that lineup’s speculation along with Sigur Ros.
In any event, hopefully the group’s full coast-to-coast itinerary, which includes performances April 14 and 21 at Coachella, will be unveiled soon. The xx’s new album I See You is out January 13 via Young Turks, and the band just unveiled another track off it, called “Say Something Loving.” Listen to it below, and check out some of the personalized invites via Twitter.
