Just in time for the holiday season, Daft Punk have released a slew of festive merchandise, from robot helmets ornaments and snow globes to a black and gold wooden wick “mood” candle. The phrase “The Daft Punk Artisan Candle” is probably something that few people ever expected — or wanted — to read, but here we are.
Someone’s gonna “Get Lucky” on Christmas morning.
Of course, there’s always a fine line between tasteful and tacky when it comes to holiday merch from bands, but Daft Punk took the meta route this year, selling not only the Daft-Punk themed ornaments and snow globes, but also posters of vintage-style advertisement for each new product. For every hand-poured black candle and set of gold and white helmet ornaments, there’s a matching 20-by-28-inch poster of a corny, yet aesthetically pleasing ad to match, available for $15 each. Considering the rather expensive cost of the other items — $40 for the candles, $25 for the ornaments, and $35 for the snow globes — the posters might be a cheaper alternative while shopping for the Daft Punk superfan in your life this holiday season.
We’re sad to report that the $140 limited-edition portrait paintings of the robotic duo standing atop a mountain with a panther at their shiny feet have already sold out, despite the hefty price tag.
Most items from the new collection ship December 19, just in time for the Christmas giftwrapping crunch, but if you’re not big on the holidays, you can always snag the pair of ornaments to hang on your rearview mirror to show off that you’re doin’ it right.
