Modern Acts: Cleveland’s good fortune continues with this sweet new Cloud Nothings jam

What a time to be young and alive in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers are NBA champs, the Indians are making noise in the MLB playoffs (we need not give you the specifics), and cherished North Coast sons Cloud Nothings are back with a new album, a winter 2017 tour, and one of the sweetest autumnal jams you’ll hear between now and Thanksgiving.

That sweet jam is called “Modern Act”, and you can listen to it below courtesy of the band’s Soundcloud. The jangly guitar-rock number is the first taste of Cloud Nothing’s new album, Life Without Sound, recorded with producer John Goodmanson (Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney) in El Paso and due January 27 off Carpark Records.

“Generally, it seems like my work has been about finding my place in the world,” says frontman Dylan Baldi, via Pitchfork. “But there was a point in which I realized that you can be missing something important in your life, a part you didn’t realize you were missing until it’s there—hence the title. This record is like my version of new age music. It’s supposed to be inspiring.”

Check out the full run of shows, including a January 31 appearance at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, and the Life Without Sound album art, below.
