Back in 2012, Japandroids reached for the guitar-rock rafters with Celebration Rock, and our ears are still ringing. The Canadian duo toured that record endlessly for the following year and a half, playing more than 200 shows around the world before dropping completely out of sight.
Last week, guitarist Brian King and drummer David Prowse returned with a string of live shows at the Cobalt in their native Vancouver, a bit of a warm-up before additional gigs in North America, Europe, and Australia to close out the year.
It’s all setting up for a massive 2017 for Japandroids, and at the Cobalt, they gave us a taste of their new material. Listen to the emotionally-charged “Near to the Wild Heart of Life” and arena-sized “Arc Of Bar” via fan-filmed video below.
