Business Pleasure: Little Boots to deliver the dance floor remedy at the Middle East

Last summer we had an awesome chat with Little Boots, talking about the British producer and songwriter's ability to retain creative control over her career, her approaches in staying ahead of the game in the ravenous world of electronic pop music, and her plans to break into Daft Punk's boys club of collaborators. The artist born Victoria Hesketh also touched on her work as a DJ, and how it influenced the sound and feel of 2015's Working Girl album.

"It’s definitely influences the production," Little Boots told Vanyaland. "Maybe not the songwriting so much, though I guess structurally DJing and things about dance music have taught me how those songs are structured and why they build up and how it works and how to engineer that. And how you engineer the crowd and build the song up from basic blocks. I’ve definitely learned a lot but I think I have a place in between dance and pop so I don’t want my record to be too much of a dance record... it just comes from me trying to walk that line between two worlds. And take things from both sides."

After that interview ran, we saw her songwriter and producer side at Great Scott in Allston. This week, we get to see her DJ side, as this Thursday at the Middle East she shows off her skills in the booth as she spins the latest Crush Boston presents party at the Cambridge nightclub.

Her late-'00s dance floor bangers like "Remedy", "New In Town", and "Stuck On Repeat" always showed off a musical mind that knew the flow and attitude of a dance party, and we're excited to sweat it out with her come Thursday night. Get advance tickets here.
