In early 2014, the Orwells shook up the world of music with a blitzing live performance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Letterman went nuts, and so did everyone else come the morning after — the video was shared by pretty much everyone and things like “saviors of rock and roll” were thrown around the Facebook and Twitter water cooler. The Illinois garage rock band released sophomore album Disgraceland in June of that year, and have been touring it ever since.
This morning, they are back with an 86-second Pixies-esque new track called “Buddy”. Someone go wake up Letterman.
The Orwells tweet: “WE’RE BACK BOIIIIIS N GURLS. Sorry about that wait, I hope this 86 second track makes up for it. It’s called BUDDY.”
Listen to it below, revisit our March 2014 interview with Orwells frontman Mario Cuomo, and catch the band live at the Middle East in Cambridge on November 5.
