This is usually the time of year when a band’s itinerary starts to slow down, and planning for the new year ahead begins to take hold. This is not the case for The Ballroom Thieves.
The Boston-based Americana/folk trio today announced their sophomore album Deadeye, and it will be out October 21. When that day comes, the Thieves will be in the midst of a fairly lengthy North American tour that starts this weekend at Americana Festival in Nashville and wraps December 17 in Hudson, New York. The band first announced their fall tour back in June, but it looks like a few extra dates have since been added, and tour support from Maggie Koerner, Blue Healer, and Paper Bird has been confirmed.
To celebrate all this news, the band has also unveiled the record’s first single, titled “Peregrine”, in video form.
“We hadn’t even finished recording this tune when we knew it needed to lead off the record,” the band writes online. “We hope it tickles your fancy and then does so again and again. The video was put together by the incomparable Herman Mantis at Great North Sound Society with some additional footage by our esteemed producer, Dan Cardinal, at Dimension Sound Studios.”
