Summer is nearly over, but maybe the most-anticipated music festival(s) in North America has yet to arrive. That would be, by our watch, the one-two punch of Riot Fest 2016, which goes down this weekend in Denver and then resurfaces September 16 to 18 in Chicago.
By now, you know the lineup, or at least the big-font headliners: Both Riot Fests will feature a reunion of the “original” Misfits, bringing frontman Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein together for the first time in decades.
Elsewhere, there’s a lot to look forward to; Jane’s Addiction (performing Ritual de lo Habitual), Deftones, Nas, Converge, Tyler, The Creator and others highlight Denver, while Morrissey, the Flaming Lips, 3Teeth, and others lead our picks for Chicago. And there’s plenty of overlap between the two cities — seriously, it’s one of the most impressive lineups we’ve ever seen.
A few weeks ago, Riot Fest posted the Denver day lineups, and this week have followed up with Chicago’s. Feast your eyes on both, and get your ass on Kayak to see how to get to either city to not miss out. Ticket info: Chicago, Denver.
