Editor’s Note: We don’t exactly consider New York a hotbed of surf-rock, but if Boston can birth a handful of killer guitar-pop acts over the years, so can our friendly asphaltian neighbor to the south. Besides, SoCal is really far away! Last night at the Sinclair in Cambridge, with summer slowly fading away, rock dynamo High Waisted brought their power and grooves to Harvard Square, a kick-off show for their late-summer tour with Somos. They busted out several ace jams from March’s Off Ludlow album, and Vanyaland’s Eddy Leiva was front and center snapping a few colorful sights to match the band’s vibrant sounds.
