S U R V I V E, the band behind the ‘Stranger Things’ synth score, is touring this fall

With the massive success this summer of Netflix’ original series Stranger Things, it was only a matter of time before the people responsible for its incredible score took their synth sounds out on the road. That road, we imagine, is paved in spooky sci-fi neon, and it will lead Kyle Dixon, Michael Stein and their Austin experimental analog-synth band S U R V I V E across North America later this fall.

So far, only two tour dates have surfaced: A November 2 date at Great Scott in Allston, and a show three days later at El Club in Detroit. Tickets to the Great Scott show are on sale now.

These live appearances fall in line with the autumn release of S U R V I V E’s latest album, a nine-song instrumental record called RR7349. It drops September 30 via Relapse Records.

For the time being, Great Scott is being a bit hush-hush about the gig, writing on its Facebook event page the following mysterious message: “RIP BARB ReTurN 08/23:1200hrs”.

How this S U R V I V E tour will tie into Stranger Things is anyone’s guess at this point, but the people want what the people want. And with this Boston show arriving only a few days after Halloween, here’s another chance to dust off that ragged-ass 011 costume for the last time.
