Just before midnight on the East Coast Tuesday night, Prince’s official Twitter account relayed an unexpected message — its first tweet since April 18, three days before the music icon’s sudden death.
With an accompanying image of a silhouette of Prince’s face against a purple moon (shown above), the message reads: “THANX 4 THE OUTPOURING OF L????VE U CONTINUE 2 SHOW THE ONE AND ONLY, PRINCE. #PRINCE4EVER”
Naturally, it caught many off-guard, and some are tweeting back to the account asking that it not tweet under Prince’s name. Writes @_dirtydiana97: “if this is the Prince estate or whatever, please make another account to tweet Prince news. Don’t use this one. Please let it be.” Adds @easeptx: “please leave the accounts as they are, im sure he would like it that they be left the way they are”.
