At this point in the game, we know Green Day will never top “Going To Pasalacqua”. And hey, that’s OK, because in these times of American Idiots gone wild, perhaps we need a mainstream punk band to reach both the kids and the adults.
Today, Billie Joe Armstrong and the dudes released new track “Bang Bang”, and you can hear it below via premiere on XL102 Richmond. What immediately jumps out is this: It’s not that bad!
The track ditches the operatic overtones and gets Green Day back to their snarling, pop-punk roots. And this bodes well for the new album, which the NME says will be out October 7. It’s called Revolution Radio, and it’s out on Reprise Records.
“Of course the world has lost its collective mind… and me, Mike and Tré are lost souls too,” says Armstrong in a press statement. “Revolution Radio is a movement for lost souls to come together… dance together… sing together… and most of all, find each other. That’s what the spirit of Green Day has been about since day one.”
