It’s getting to the point where Boston hip-hop duo Esh & Arc are known as much for their eccentric and intense music videos as they are for their beats and rhymes. Of course, that’s not entirely the case, as emcee Esh The Monolith and producer the Arcitype came together for one of our favorite albums of the year in January’s Death Doesn’t Want You (AR Classic Records).
But recent clips for “Live It Up (’til the Buzz Dies Down)” and “Disposable Lovers” were so enjoyable, you’d be forgiven for allowing the visuals, story lines, and in the latter, those dance moves, to take center stage. This week, Esh & Arc supply another video, this time for piercing track “The Other Shoulder”, featuring DJ Slipwax, and it’s a back-to-basic clip that shows the pair doing what they do best. There’s some artwork, relating to the lyrics, interspersed with white-background performance footage, but this delivery is all about the music.
And as usual, the music is dope. There’s even a Mandy Moore shout out, and lord knows we all need more of those.
