Few of us are truly over the April death of Prince, and tribute shows in the Purple One’s honor still pop up around Boston. This September, a bit odder spectacle comes to town, as Saturday Night Live comic and actress Maya Rudolph brings her Prince cover band — called Princess, appropriately enough — to the Paradise Rock Club on September 21.
No, for real. We are not joking. Look:
Maya Rudolph has a Prince cover band called Princess & you can buy tix Friday for Sept. 21 show at @ParadiseRockClb. What more could I say?

Princess will also play two shows this September at Brooklyn Bowl in New York, and it’s safe to assume more will be announced as part of a larger tour. But Boston’s date is locked in.
Here’s how the night is described, via thedise.com: “SNL vet Maya Rudolph and LA singer-songwriter Gretchen Lieberum are PRINCESS, a Prince cover band. The two have been singing together since college but it was only recently that the duo turned their mutual adoration for Prince into a musical project. Born out of their collective, life-long obsession with Prince, each performance is a love letter to the Artist himself. Don`t Worry, They Won`t Hurt U… They Only Want U 2 Have Some Fun.”
Sounds perfect.
Score advance tickets here, and check out some fan-filmed video of Princess’ performance at Austin’s Moontower Comedy Festival back in April, just a few short days after the icon passed away.
