Super Connected: Belly to play first shows in 20 years this weekend in Newport

Open rehearsals are all the rage these days. Last week, Dispatch announced a special one-off gig in Allston in order to test out their touring set in front of a live audience, and now, the reunited Belly will play a pair of shows with the same intent, going down this weekend at the intimate Parlor Bar & Kitchen in Newport, Rhode Island.

Belly write: “We’ll be playing this Friday and Saturday night at the Parlor Cafe, in our hometown of Newport — our first shows in twenty years (fittingly just a couple blocks from the former 3’s bar, where we played our first show ever in ’92). These will be loose, ‘on-stage public-rehearsals’ (more than full-blown and polished ‘shows’) in preparation for our limited reunion-tour kicking off in Glasgow on Friday the 15th, but we expect they’ll be a lot of fun!”

As they state in their memo, Belly begin their official reunion run July 15 in Glasgow, part of eight shows in the United Kingdom before their North American tour begins August 9 at Royale.
