What the world is waiting for will finally arrive: The Stone Roses will release a new single today, Thursday, May 12. The song is expected to go public around 8 p.m. in the United Kingdom, giving us here on the East Coast of the United States a nice midday treat around 3 p.m. local time.
It’s the first bit of new music from the iconic Manchester band in 22 years, since the release of their sophomore album Second Coming back in 1994. Earlier this week, a series of mysterious posters showing the Roses’ classic lemon icon started popping up around Manchester, and a few months ago frontman Ian Brown described the band’s new tunes as “glorious”.
The Stone Roses will play a string of hometown gigs next month, as well as a massive stateside show June 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Buckle up.
