Set against the backdrop of Boston Harbor, there are few better places to spend a Friday evening in the summer than at the Institute of Contemporary Art. Today, the ICA has unveiled some extra incentive to get down to the Seaport, rolling out its annual dance party series with a lineup that's a nice mix of national names and some of Boston's best DJs.
On the national side, DJ sets from tUnE-yArDs, DJ Windows 98 (Win Butler of Arcade Fire), and Beirut add some familiar names to the lineup, while on the local level, the Deep Dives series curated in part by Good Life's DJ Knife will tailor nights around themes of hip-hop, disco, and reggae. Each Deep Dives party promises to explore the legacy of that night's genre theme.
The series kicks off July 8 and runs each Friday through August 26 (with no event on August 5 to make way for the ICA's First Fridays party), with the finale pairing a DJ set from Brooklyn's Light Asylum with a screening of photographer Jean-Paul Goode’s 1982 Grace Jones concert video A One Man Show.
