Go Outside, Stay Outside: These New England music festivals will get us through the summer

Over the past few years, there's been an explosion of summer music festivals around New England. And we're not just talking about Boston, which has seen an unexpected uptick in cool with the addition of Boston Calling Music Festival, the bi-annual City Hall Plaza bash that celebrates its seventh edition this Memorial Day with Robyn, Sia, Disclosure, and others. From Waking Windows in Winooski, Vermont to the legendary Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, large-scale music parties new and old are providing the perfect road trip excuse for idle New Englanders.

With summer fast approaching, here's are a handful of upcoming fests certain to spice up your summer soundtrack and provide a sonic bop to the mid-year doldrums.

Copenhagen Beer & Music Celebration

Website: copenhagenbeerfest.com
Dates: September 23 to 24
Where: City Hall Plaza, Boston, Massachusetts
Price: $40 and up (full ticket info here)
Bands To See: Lucero, Yo La Tengo, Vundabar, Tigerman WOAH
What’s The Deal: Sure it’s also (mostly?) a beer festival, but every music festival is a beer festival if you try hard enough. Plus, the live lineup rivals what’s on tap, and in addition to appearances by local beard-gang Tigerman WOAH and road hogs Vundabar, a national bill of Lucero (who pair well with any tasty brew), Yo La Tengo, and Mariachi El Bronx provides a nice summer goodbye in the heart of Boston. Get more info on the CrashLine Productions fest here.
