We’ve been known to declare the Rock And Roll Rumble Boston’s best local music festival. But the annual MayFair in Cambridge’s Harvard Square is not too far behind. Presented and organized by the Harvard Square Business Association with its two main live stages curated by rock club the Sinclair, this year’s MayFair, the 33rd annual, goes down this Sunday, May 1, and its 12-band lineup is once again impressive.
The free party — which also features dance troupes, food, crafts, street art, a chalk art gallery, and other family-geared entertainment — is headlined musically by Boston rock luminaries the Sheila Divine and Township, with appearances throughout the afternoon by Vic Firecracker, Covey, ABADABAD, Cask Mouse, Hayley Thompson-King, Let’s Wait, Today Junior, and Rumble runners-up Weakened Friends. Some out of town love is provided by Brooklyn trio B Boys and Connecticut’s Will Evans.
Check out the lineup, and music from each band or artist, below. For more on Mayfair’s other programming and attractions, including the Club Passim stage, now with 100% more Honeysuckle, and the Dance Stage, click here.
