A few weeks ago Fitz And The Tantrums accidentally let it slip that they'd be headlining 2016's EarthFest. This morning, we have the rest of the lineup.
The free, annual outdoor festival curated by Radio 92.9, which this year returns to Boston's DCR Hatch Memorial Shell on May 21, is headlined by the Los Angeles neo-soul and pop ensemble and will also feature Rah-Cha-Cha alt-pop wonderkids Joywave and Canadian alt-country sextet the Strumbellas.
A fourth act will be added through a local band contest, and interested parties can submit themselves for consideration here -- but heads up, the contest ends April 24.
In addition to the fairly strong lineup, other amenities at this year's EarthFest include an Eco-Pavilion, with exhibits and environmental displays from non-profit organizations around New England, and an interactive Kids Planet, featuring music and educational displays, for families and children under the age of 12;
Last year's EarthFest was tied into the Outside The Box music and arts festival on Boston Common, and featured a free show with Guster, New Politics, Atlas Genius, and local upstart Hunter. In December, it was announced that EarthFest would be returning to the Hatch Shell, where since 2003 it has hosted concerts by Neon Trees, Third Eye Blind, Soul Asylum, The Lemonheads, The Wallflowers, Peter Wolf, Sheryl Crow, Sister Hazel, and dozens of others.
Gates for this year's event open at 10 a.m. Listen to the bands below.
