We’ve written a lot about PINS over the past few months, but today we have two new reasons to hype the Manchester post-punk band: one, they’ll be playing Brighton Music Hall in Allston tonight with the Subways, and two, they just released a new black-and-white video for slickly sinister new single “Trouble”.
The track falls somewhere between the dark, calculated rock tones of Savages and the Horrors, and continues PINS’ uncanny knack for writing black-clad guitar-pop songs.
Says PINS of the video: “‘Trouble’ is about doing something that feels good even though it might be bad for you. We took a blacked out photography studio and used different props and lenses to reflect that notion. We channelled our darkest thoughts and started rolling. It’s dangerous, glitchy and distorted. You only ever get a glimpse. But you can’t help but watch.”
The song is the featured a-side on PINS’ upcoming Record Store Day release, and the band’s sophomore album, Wild Nights, dropped last summer. It’s worth revisiting if you missed it fist time around. Listen to and watch “Trouble” below, and scan PINS’ full run of dates with the Subways.
