When Billy Joel plays Fenway Park this summer, he could have a tantalizing new duet partner.
Canadian multi-instrumentalist and all-around A+ Dude Mac DeMarco took on the Piano Man last night at a Planned Parenthood benefit at Brooklyn’s Music Hall Of Williamsburg, covering Joel’s 1977 hit, “Just The Way You Are”. The crowd was pretty into DeMarco’s rendition, a stripped-down number featuring the musician performing solo with an acoustic guitar.
Not to be outdone, DeMarco also busted out his own version of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)”, and, well, the crowd was way into that one, too.
Kevin Morby, Joseph D’Agostino of Cymbals Eat Guitars, Boss Hog, Mutual Benefit, and others also performed live at last night’s Planned Parenthood fund raiser, which is organized annually by Panache Booking & New York Night Train.
