We're all waking up to a cold, snowy winter morning here in Massachusetts, so here's some necessary sunshine courtesy of Newport Folk Festival. The annual mid-summer Rhode Island get-together, now in its 57th year, has been slowly rolling out its 2016 lineup, and first impressions are making us warm and fuzzy.
Among those first announced to play the July 22 to 24 fest at Fort Adams State Park are Raury, Father John Misty, Joan Shelley, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and Ray LaMontagne.
The lineup is being unveiled artist-by-artist via the Newport Folk twitter.
The slate is already proving rewarding for those who bought tickets in advance -- the '16 edition of Newport Folk is just about all sold out, with a limited number of Friday night tickets still available. Those who didn't get in on the early on-sales are in luck, however, as Newport Folk recent unveiled a fan-to-fan ticket exchange system that aims to cut out scalping.
